Robert and Corliss Dornisch (Bob and Corky)

AND THEN THE 3RD "LITTLE" DORNISCH
BOY WAS SWEPT OF HIS FEET

That is correct. The date was September 28, 1957. It was again very hot.
Robert W. Dornisch and Corliss (Corky) Cox tied the knot. The photo is not an optical illusion. They were both in the Navy at the time. The wedding took place somewhere near Anacostia Naval Base. The ride from Phila. to Anacostia took forever (remember, No Interstate. Route 1 the entire way). It must have been 90 degrees. Our car had woolen seats and No A/C.  Great for winter, bad for Summer. The reception was held in the apartment Aunt Corky shared with other enlisted "Waves" as they were called then. Aunt Joan has verified the wedding photo as being authentic; "do I have a pink hat on and a whoosit suit?" Yes you do. "And is your brother Jack in the picture/" Yes he is. "then it is legit!!"
Historical Note: In 1957, then president Dwight D. Eisenhower took the 1st Marine Helicopter ride for any president on a "Chopper" from Anacostia. To this day, when you see the President get off the Chopper, it has come from Anacostia Naval Facility
Bob & Corky, Russ Jr, Andrea, Russ Sr, Nery (L-R)
They Jetted away to some exotic tropical island. Where they remained for nearly 2 years. Actually it was Argentia, Newfoundland. (I think) Bob Jr was born up there, somewhere, and when they arrived in N.J. on the way home to Phila of course they had to clear customs. This did not sit well with one grandmother, Cass Dornisch (the first). When she was told she had to wait to see them She threatened to the A.P. officer; "Sir, I will take your head-off unless you let me see that baby right now." Such a kind, sweet grandmom!! Fortunately the A.P agreed thus saving bloodshed at the entry gate.
This was taken when the Mamas and the Papas were the rage.

This was taken in St. Pete, Fla. The 5 Dornisch kids with that Sheahan girl and Russ jr.

Well, nicely done. I appreciate the reduction in age, but not the reduction in rank. (Birthday 04DEC53), COMMANDER, U.S. Navy.

And, BTW, since my recent conversion to Islam I may be bringing all four of my wives. They'll be the babes in burkhas.

As Ever,

Bill

BTW, I found a rare picture of our great grandfather, Anton "Von" Dornisch, who apparently also served in the military, attaining the rank of colonel.

Here's also a picture of a Blackwater (where I've been working sinc 05) operator on a VIP protective service detail.

Uh, excuse me...Bob Jr was born 3/31/1959 not 3/31/1939. That previous post was put up there by his father.

There are 2 things I remember about that trip. One, Mom just got her new teeth and she wasnt very happy and theo ther thing I remember was she gave Dad a hard time because I think we must have gotten a little lost on the way there. Once we got there, it was wonderful!!!! Where did all of that time go????
